Pastor Roberto de Leon Caro, 36, was reportedly abducted by three men, believed to be policemen or military men, on Wednesday, May 6, 1992, at around 6:15 pm while buying peanuts from a suki. He was going about his ministry at De Castro Street, De Castro Subdivision, Rosario, Pasig. The three men rode in an owner-type jeepney favored by the police and the military.

The abduction, according to witnesses, was a professional job. One of the men put an arm around Pastor Caro and said, "Kamusta ka na Pare?" (How are you, Father?) The witnesses thought that the men were old friends of Pastor Roberto until they noticed that he was being handcuffed and that he was struggling violently. The abduction was so professional that the pastor could not even scream for help. The whole thing was done quickly, efficiently, and precisely. Most of the witnesses, given the clockwork precision of the whole thing, thought that the act had been premeditated and planned.

The three men were, according to the witnesses, huge and well-built and looked like police or military, meaning they had large tummies. They also have dark complexions. They had towels around their heads, making them virtually unrecognizable. The professionalism with which the perpetrators did their thing was evident in the way they bent their heads so that their faces could not be seen in the twilight.
