on February 15, 1988, at around 11 pm. The combined force of PC and PAF raided Carmencita, Floridablanca.  Reportedly, the military disguised themselves as "kasama" or NPAs and knocked at the house of Ramon Mercado.  When the younger brother (Renato) of Ramon opened the door, the military asked him to accompany them to the house of the Brgy. Captain, Renato refused and instead gave them instructions on how to get into the house of the Brgy. Captain.  Ramon Mercado heard that his brother was being forced to go with them, went out, and talked to the military. Upon seeing him, the military immediately handcuffed him and forcibly took him with them; he never returned home.  Prior to the incident, 3 CHDF men were disarmed by the NPA in Floridablanca. Unfortunately Ramon, who did not know the incident, went in that Brgy. to visit a friend on the same day. The combat troops saw him, and they suspected him of doing intelligence work for the NPA.
