Nilo A. Olegario Jr., single, a resident of 18 Matahimik St. Barangay Malaya, Quezon City, an active member of the August Twenty-One Movement (ATOM), was reported missing since December 13, 1985, by his father, Ret. Col. Nilo Olegario Sr.

On the morning of December 13, 1985, when Ret. Col. Nilo Oligario Sr. talked to his son Nilo Olegario Jr. via PLDT International Telephone Connection. Nilo Olegario Sr. was then in Chicago, USA, while his son Nilo Jr. was in Manila.

According to Ret. Col. Nilo Olegario Sr. said during their telephone conversation that Nilo Jr. narrated to him that he already joined the August Twenty-One Movement (ATOM) under Agapito "Butch" Aquino, the brother of the late Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr.

Nilo Jr. said to his father that military and PC soldiers were arresting ATOM members and other militants and activists. He said that they were in hiding and trying to avoid being arrested.

Since then, after the conversation, Nilo Sr. had not been able to get in touch with his son or locate the body of Nilo Olegario Jr.

Ret. Col. Nilo Olegario Sr. strongly believed that General Fabian Ver had him arrested and liquidated because he was the whistle-blower on how Benigno Aquino Jr. was assassinated upon his arrival at Manila International Airport.
