By 1am on September 18, the witnesses said they heard a succession of shots fired not too far from their houses. Then they heard voices groaning in pain.

Five witnesses claimed to have separately seen 30 to 50 armed men walking in various spots from Barangay Bueno from 3:00 am to 5:30 am. The armed men wore camouflage uniforms and combat boots and carried rifles.
