One of the recent cases is Anak Pawis member Melanie Catipon, who was reported abducted by unidentified men in the town of Maria Aurora, Aurora. In this incident Mrs. Jocelyn Javier and a group from Mothers and Relatives against Tyranny (Martyr) would rather have an independent commission to investigate the killings and human rights violations than let the Task Force Usig of the Philippine National Police do the work. Roman Politan, Chair of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan in Central Luzon, said the task force was "just a tool to clear the military and the police forces of involvement in these atrocities and thereby misrepresent the truth."
