On Feb. 9, around 7pm, Orcino was with Honorio Ayroso in Encarnation Subdivision, Brgy. Sto Niño 1st, San Jose City, when they boarded a tricycle and asked to be brought to PNB in the town proper. As they were about to go, a man armed with a baby Armalite hailed the tricycle and asked to be brought to Caliwanagan (a barrio in San Jose) for P20. When the driver refused, the man insisted on sitting in the driver's backseat, and as soon as he did this, two men armed with armalites appeared from a waiting stainless-steel owner-type jeep at the corner and pointed their guns at Honor and Johnny and tried to force them to alight. The first armed men then tried to grab the hands of the two victims.  Honor and Johnny started shouting while struggling to hold on to the tricycle, and these attracted the attention of the residents who came rushing to the scene but were scared off when they saw the armed men. Failing to force the two to alight, the first suspect told the driver to get off and mistakenly handed to him a waist bag, which the suspect snatched from Honor. The suspect then drove off, with the two other armed men cramming themselves inside the tricycle to hold Honor and Johnny at gunpoint. The tricycle, followed by the armed men's jeep and another armed man on a black Isuzu motorcycle, drove off towards the direction of Sto. Niño 2nd, near the camp of the 71st Infantry Battalion of the Phil. Army.  The driver that same night reported the incident to the PNP in San Jose City and turned over Ayroso's belt bag. A blotter report said that the belt bag contained a 45-caliber gun, a hand grenade, a small notebook, a cellphone battery, P7,000 in cash, ballpoint pens, and toiletries.  That same night, a mauling incident in Brgy. Caanawan was reported to the San Jose City PNP, involving a tricycle and a jeep, but there was no report since the San Jose City PNP did not respond. It was in that same barangay in Caanawan that the tricycle, which had body nunber 2674, was recovered the next day by the roadside.  On Feb. 19, a person who claimed to be an agent of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) under the National Security Council went to the office of Roberto Ayroso, Honor's brother and head of graduate studies at Araullo University in Cabanatuan. It was on Feb. 20 that Roberto was able to talk to the agent, who told him that Honor was "no longer in the Order of Battle" ("wala na siya sa Order of Battle") and that it is best for the family to sound out a public call for the surrender of Honor, who he claimed is a ranking New People's Army cadre in the province.
