On April 9, 1988, at around 11:30 p.m., Joseph Bautista was with his friends drinking beer at a small restaurant inside the PNB compound, San Fernando, Pampanga, when a sky-blue Ford Fiera loaded with men in fatigue uniforms and armed with M-16 rifles and caliber 45 guns arrived in the area and forcibly took these young men away. Upon learning of the incident, the relatives of the victims immediately went to search for them in different military camps, detention centers, and other places where they could possibly find them. The relatives also went to the municipal hall to blot the case. But their efforts were in vain. On May 4, 1988, at around 9:00-10:00 a.m., relatives of the victims went to the mayor of San Fernando to ask for his help. Unfortunately, the mayor informed them that he cannot do anything since the military is beyond his jurisdiction. Instead, he referred the matter to the governor of the province. To date, the whereabouts of the victims are still unknown.
