Armed plainclothesmen abducted a suspected member of the New People's Army in Brgy. Cupang North, Balanga, Bataan on March 12, 1990. The identified victim was Edgardo Canlapan, married with one child and resident of Balanga, Bataan.   Edgardo Canlapan was abducted while waiting for a ride at the street corner of Brgy. Cupang North in Balanga, Bataan. His abductors were armed and in plain clothes on board an owner-type jeepney with no plate number.   According to his niece who witnessed the abduction, at around 6:30PM on March 12, 1990, his uncle told her that he was going to see a friend. Suddenly a commotion occurred; she saw an owner-type jeep and a motorcycle parked at the side of the street.  The following day, March 13, the victim's niece went to the scene, and she heard the people talking about her uncle. She learned that the armed men who were brandishing M16 rifles forcibly dragged her uncle inside an owner-type jeepney. The armed men were shouting that Edgardo was a member of the New People's Army operating in Bataan. His uncle, according to them, kept on shouting that he was innocent and should not be arrested. He was even calling her and his daughter for help.  Prior to the incident, neighbors of the victim noticed that for three consecutive nights, an owner-type jeep with no plate number was regularly parked near Edgardo's house.  Zenaida, the victim's wife, together with some friends, sought the help of the Barangay Captain and the Mayor. They even went to the 68th IB detachment of the Philippine Army. However, Edgardo Canlapan was never seen again. He is still disappeared.
