On November 12, 2006, at around 8:00 a.m. In the morning Bernardito Caporal, along with Dante Gersella, went to Pilar town to buy things in the market. While taking their time, the two victims went to a restaurant to have their breakfast.   While inside the restaurant, six unidentified armed men in civilian clothes suddenly came in, poked their guns, and forcibly took the men into an owner-type jeep and sped towards an unknown direction.

Reports said that Bernardito, who was inside the restaurant, was mauled by his armed captors when he resisted going with them, while Dante was taken by two armed men just outside the restaurant who were then waiting beside the perpetrators' jeep. The two were immediately blindfolded.

The two were reportedly taken to Camp Abucay, and later the two were separated.

Later, the next day, November 13, 2006, at around 4:00 a.m. Dante Gesella, along with other army operatives, went to Barangay Lungib in Pilar town. Dante, who then was with the military, was forced to guide their operation and forced to point to his other companions (suspected NPA cadres).

Fearing for his life, Dante points to the house of Domingo Marbella, 22, a suspected NPA supporter from that barangay. The military men then surrounded the house of Domingo Marbella and abducted him. Dante suddenly sees chances of escaping his abductors while two of his military escorts are looking carelessly at Marbella while the victim is being abducted.

Reports added Dante was severely injured while escaping his abductors, and after escaping, Dante immediately informed the relatives of Bernardito of the incident.

Several days after the abduction of Domingo Marbella, his body was found lifeless by his relatives, the body bearing bullet wounds and signs of torture.

Domingo Marbella is a relative of an official of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas.

While Sorsogon City Police Chief Supt. said they had no idea about the abduction despite the fact that it happened just a stone's throw from a police station.

The commanding officer of the army's 2nd infantry battalion also denied the military had a hand in the disappearance.
